Jefferson State Offering New Customer Service Program

Woman talks to a client while standing at a reception desk.Jefferson State is offering a new Customer Service Professional Program at its Shelby-Hoover Campus in partnership with Alabama Power, ALFA, Ask Telecommunications, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Alabama, Protective Life Insurance, and Spire.

An information session about the program is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Feb. 4 in Room 156 of the Judy Merritt Health Sciences Building on the Shelby-Hoover Campus.

“Jefferson State is thrilled to offer a comprehensive training program designed to equip individuals with the essential skills needed for success in customer service careers,” Dean of Workforce Education Leah Bigbee said. “This program not only prepares participants for high-demand roles but also opens doors to career opportunities with some of the top companies across the state. By partnering with local industries, we ensure that our training is aligned with real-world needs, helping graduates build a strong foundation for a rewarding career.”

The eight-week program begins April 1. Classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Shelby-Hoover Campus (4600 Valleydale Road, Birmingham 35242).

Participants will learn effective communication skills, problem-solving skills, customer relationship management, sales skills, and cultural competence.

Tuition for the program is $1,000, and scholarships are available.

Applications are being accepted through Feb. 18.
