Jefferson State celebrated students’ upcoming apprenticeships at Grandview Medical Center during a Signing Day ceremony on Friday, Oct. 14.
Jefferson State President Keith Brown welcomed those in attendance.
“Today is a great day for Jefferson State Community College and the Nursing Program as we launch our first Nursing Apprenticeship Program. This is a fantastic partnership with Grandview Medical Center and we are very appreciative to the Alabama Office of Apprenticeship. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students and this is going to be the first of many to come. These are very deserving students and we are so proud of them,” Brown said.
Kate Sewell, director of nursing education and staff development at Grandview; Josh Laney, executive director of the Alabama Office of Apprenticeship; and Anita Naramore, Jefferson State associate dean, were in attendance for the ceremony.
“We appreciate all the partners that have allowed us to get to this point. There are already many other students looking forward to participate in this program,” Sewell said.
“Jefferson State is happy to be a part of this wonderful opportunity for our students and clinical affiliates. I’m proud these students have a chance to earn while they are learning. We look forward to a long-lasting relationship with this program and thanks to our students for your hard work and commitment.,” Naramore said.
